OneBlood Agreement
During FY22, School Food Service facilitated communication with OneBlood to assess and support
their goal to educate and provide the value of blood donation and set ‘Blood Drives’ in the District.
A cross-functional team was developed to support this initiative. The following is a list of the
departments that assisted:
• Communications and Engagement
• General Counsel’s Office
• Planning and Intergovernmental Relations
• Risk and Benefits Management
• School Police
• School Transformation
• School Food Service
A bulletin was issued to inform internal stakeholders about the final agreement with OneBlood, the
importance of blood donations for the community, and the protocols and processes to establish
them at school and District facilities.
Throughout the year, students and staff boarded OneBlood’s signature Big Red Bus to help save
lives and donated 2,588 units of blood. Each donation can help save up to three people, which
means the District helped 7,764 patients with their collaboration.
A total of 25 high school campuses and the Fulton Holland Educational Services Center supported
blood donation during the FY22 school year with 44 Blood Drives.
Donating Blood Provided Benefits for the Students and Staff:
• All blood donors received a complimentary wellness checkup, including blood pressure, pulse,
temperature, iron count, and cholesterol screening.
• Donating helps improve blood flow and can result in fewer arterial blockages.
• OneBlood provided the District with an Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program
supporting students toward their academic future.
OneBlood had an opportunity to honor their top Exemplary Blood Drive Performers for FY22 at
the District’s Wellness Promotion Task Force meeting on June 7, 2022. The following were the top
awardees:
• Top School Award - Park Vista High School
• Top Committee Award - Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts
