Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)
The Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP) is an Elementary school program sponsored by the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It provides all children in participating schools free
fresh fruits and vegetable snacks during the day while giving fun educational facts about the fruit
or vegetable. The FFVP is an effective and creative way of introducing students to healthy snack
options by exposing them to fruits and vegetables they otherwise may not have the opportunity
to sample. This past year, 19 elementary schools participated, serving over 775,000 fresh fruit and
vegetable snacks.

School Safety
The School Police Department received its Excelsior
Designation from the Commission of Florida Law
Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) in the summer of 2021.
This designation is assigned to police agencies that have
achieved CFA accreditation. The three-year assessment
periods focus on the best law enforcement practices in
Florida as defined by the CFA.
The School Police Department is dedicated to protecting
students and staff with a collaborative approach. The
day-to-day policing model of the school police includes a
focus on prevention, intervention, and diversion on each
campus. Additionally, in compliance with The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety
Act, the police department continues to implement updated technology, training, and outreach to
ensure a holistic approach to safety and security throughout the District. The school police actively
collaborates with all our local law enforcement partners for training, security, investigations, and
threat assessment, adding a layer of support for our schools.
