Collaboration and community outreach are vital parts of our
mission. Examples of our collaboration are the summer training
seminar for school administrators on School Targeted Violence
Awareness facilitated by School Police and presented by the FBI.
School Police also participated in the PBC School and Community
Safety Initiative, a Law Enforcement Planning Council workgroup
focused on preventing future mass acts of violence in Palm Beach
County. School Police have worked with other District departments
to facilitate table-top exercises to prepare for emergencies that
may require a joint response from multiple stakeholders.
This year, a therapy dog was added to our team for community
outreach. “Jamie” has been a great asset and was well received
by everyone who has met him. He has visited multiple campuses
since his arrival and is always invited back. In collaboration with
our Department of Safe Schools, we look forward to building our
therapy dog program District-wide.
School Police Officers are involved in
every aspect of safety in our schools.
Officers join students in the nation’s largest
celebration of reading event,
“National Read Across America.”
Fostering positive relationships between youth and officers
during the yearly “Shop with a Cop” event.
