The IT Security and Governance team is committed to providing safe and secure access to and
from the internet for devices, applications, data, and infrastructure for all District users. The team is
responsible for providing oversight, compliance, and answering audit responses to ensure that we
adhere to best practices and standards. This year, the IT Security and Governance team implemented
a Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) solution to serve as an enhanced warning and
response system for threats and vulnerabilities. The team also implemented a NextGen Anti-Virus
upgrade, extended our Web Content Filtering to all District servers, and added enhanced data
security and data masking. The IT Security team provides annual end-user security training, engages
with outside vendors for penetration testing, and conducts internal phishing educational exercises.

The IT Project Management Office has been instrumental in guiding most of these projects to
their successful completion by providing project management oversight, schedules, tracking, and
lessons learned for technology projects across the District. IT PMO headed up a project for School
Police Department to implement a District-wide mobile panic button at all locations, per Alyssa’s
Law. The team worked with Transportation Department to get WiFi routers on 855 District school
buses, allowing all student riders access to high-speed WiFi. IT PMO also managed a project with
Human Resources, School Police, and other stakeholders to outsource the fingerprint collection for
applicants to a third-party vendor. The IT Division proudly restarted our award-winning Summer
Intern program for FY22. On behalf of the entire IT Division and our colleagues in Education
Technology, the team accepted the first annual South Florida Project Management Institute 2021
Project of the Year Award for the Student 1:1 Device initiative.

Facilities Construction – Capital Improvements Program
The Facilities Construction Department oversees and monitors the construction of new schools and
the renovations and remodeling of existing schools from conception to project completion. Additional
services include relocatable classrooms and projects related to building envelope, HVAC, safety,
security, roofing, classroom technology, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and
changes to existing facilities resulting from minor and significant Comprehensive Safety Inspections
        Reports (CSIR).

In FY22, the Facilities Construction Department managed more than 250 projects in various phases
of completion with a total expensed value of over $115 million.
