Global Leadership Project
The Global Leadership Project has been an important aspect of the District’s academic vision for the past six years. The
focus of the initiative is to increase the number of students who graduate globally-competent with the knowledge, skills,
and disposition to investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, and understand and act purposefully.
For FY23, the District partnered with Participate Learning, an educational group, to further expand the Global Leadership
Project in four schools: Jupiter ES, Jupiter MS, Roosevelt MS, and Melaleuca ES.
School staff engaged in professional learning centered on teaching school and District initiatives through the lens of
global leaders. Moreover, the staff focused their school activities during the course of FY23 on ensuring students and staff
understand the global competencies: critical thinking, valuing differences, understanding of global issues, global connection,
intercultural understanding, curiosity, communication, empathy, self-awareness, and flexibility. Though all four schools
worked with Participate Learning, each school leader and staff members charted their own course that met the needs of
their students.
The success of the FY23 Global Leadership Project has been remarkable. The schools are eager to continue the work in
the upcoming year, noting that students “feel connected locally and globally” and staff are excited to “engage with the
partnership and therefore pass that learning onto our students.” Two middle schools were invited to present their global
education work at the Magnet Schools of America (MSA) conference. For the upcoming year, the initiative will continue to
grow with project-based learning.
