                                    134 SUPERINTENDENT ANNUAL REPORTFighting Hunger One Bite at a TimeThe Fighting Hunger One Bite at a Time initiative, established by the Palm Beach County Association of Student Councils, identified barriers to accessing free school meals. Student leaders used a structured data-collection process that prioritized peer input. In partnership with No Kid Hungry and SFS, the student association launched an updated online survey to gather feedback from secondary students. To maximize engagement, the team:%u2022 Implemented a real-time participation tracker.%u2022 Promoted the initiative through official District bulletins and the Weekly District Updates.%u2022 Distributed promotional flyers and digital media at a student-led event.%u2022 Maintained communication with schools to ensure data integrity.Student engagement rose by nearly 50% compared with the previous year, and more than 7,400 students expressed interest in follow-up focus groups. Participating schools received recognition at the April Leadership Summit. Hunger Relief and Food DistributionDuring FY26, SFS expanded its impact through community partnerships. These collaborations provided weekend backpack meals, food pantries, and weekly distributions. The Hunger Relief Collaboration Team provided weekend meals to thousands of students. These partnerships ensured access to nutritious meals, helping to reduce food insecurity throughout the District.The Department of Multicultural Education also hosted a summer food distribution event at the Welcome Center, in partnership with Feeding South Florida. As part of the Back to School Beyond Limits initiative, the collaboration provided relief to 232 households.Promotional Poster
