                                    EDUCATE | AFFIRM | INSPIRE 133OUTSIDE THE LUNCHBOXFarm Field TripsThe School Food Service (SFS) Department connected cafeterias to career exploration and academic enrichment. The department organized career-focused farm field trips for one middle school and four high schools, reaching 250 students. At Pero Family Farms, participants met with industry professionals to gain insight into agricultural careers. Schools with established culinary and agricultural programs were selected to deepen campus career pathways. Aligned with academic standards, these visits provided students with valuable exposure to postsecondary options, including:%u2022 College pathways%u2022 Technical and certificate programs%u2022 Immediate workforce opportunitiesStudents discussed career paths with professionals, while nutrition education and cooking demonstrations brought learning to life. This approach strengthened connections among agriculture, culinary arts, and health. In partnership with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the department advanced virtual farm field trips for elementary students. These efforts integrate agriculture and nutrition into daily instruction and expand student opportunities beyond traditional meal programs.Students in the Culinary Arts and Biotechnology Choice programs at Palm Beach Lakes Community HS participated in a farm field trip.
