Enterprise Portal
Students, teachers, school administrators, and other employees require access to many
different software applications to effectively perform their roles or job functions. The District
enterprise portal allows those users to see all applications they have access to in one location.

The intent of the enterprise portal is to bring everything of interest to an individual in one place.
The portal provides a single, integrated, ubiquitous, point of access to information and software
applications, delivered in a personalized and customized manner. The benefit to students,
teachers, and other end users is simplicity and speed of information access, saving time and
increasing productivity. The enterprise portal also allows for the centralization of information,
making it easier to maintain and keep up-to-date.

During the life of this Plan, the enterprise portal will migrate to a SaaS / cloud model, which will
allow for close to 24/7/365 availability for our students, teachers, and other employees.

               Student Information System

The District’s Student Information System (SIS) is a mission critical software application that
manages the District’s school-related data including students, teachers, classrooms, and
courses. The primary function of the SIS is to aggregate student data and generate FTE survey
reports as mandated by the Florida Department of Education (DOE). The District’s annual
funding from DOE is based on this data. It also serves as the repository for historical student
               records.

Since the publication of the last Strategic Technology Plan, a new SIS went live for all schools
and students and the following functions were successfully implemented via the new system:

                   ● School, teacher, and student reporting including attendance, discipline, gradebook, and
                       assignments
                   ● Student and parent portals
                   ● School Based Team tracking
                   ● Student and parent course requests
                   ● Elementary and secondary report cards

SIS will be continually analyzed to determine when and where it can be leveraged to further
personalized learning for all students. To that end, future phases of the SIS to be planned and
implemented include online student registration and re-enrollment. With an upcoming District
initiative to have all parents register their students online within the SIS, the need for
student-related paper forms, reports, and letters will be nearly eliminated. Other Florida school
districts have had great success attaining well over 90% of students registered for school via
               their online system.

During the years covered by this Technology Plan, new electronic cumulative folder functionality
will be implemented across all schools. This new SIS feature will allow new students to start out
with a completely paperless cumulative folder. Over time, existing paper student cumulative
folders will be scanned and migrated to the new process. Once implemented, electronic
cumulative folders will provide the following five primary benefits:

                   1. Eventually getting to paperless student cumulative folders for each student and each
                       District-run school.
                   2. Save school staff time filing, maintaining, and retrieving paper-based student records.
