During the life of this Technology Plan, custom applications will continue to be developed and
delivered as requested and required to meet the academic and operational needs of students,
teachers, schools, and departments.
Content Management and Collaboration
The three primary supported content management and collaboration platforms are Google
Workspace, Microsoft 365, and ImageQuest.
Google Workspace
The Google Workspace suite of products used in all District-run schools includes:
Mail Calendar Contacts Classroom Drive Meet Chat
Vault Docs Sheets Slides Sites Forms Keep
These products provide cloud storage as well as the ability to collaboratively and simultaneously
work on documents with other people. The Workspace also provides controlled access and
security to documents and accessibility to the public when necessary. Google Classroom allows
teachers to create a site for their class, invite their students to join the site, post content
including assignments to the site, receive completed assignments from students, and grade
those assignments.
Starting in March 2020 when the District was forced to very quickly move to distance learning
due to the pandemic, Workspace instantly became a mission-critical application, particularly
Google Classroom and Google Meet. Even with the return to in-person instruction and workers
back in offices, virtual meetings via Google Meet have remained the standard instead of
in-person meetings. During the life of this Plan, that trend will likely continue.
Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 is an enterprise content management and collaboration solution used to support
District academic and business processes, projects, and daily work, as well as online document
storage, sharing, and maintenance. It is used by teachers, principals, administrators,
departments, and teams. In fact, many employees have access to multiple Microsoft 365
SharePoint sites. SharePoint sites offer advanced (i.e., granular document- or list-level) site
security when necessary. SharePoint allows for compliance to document retention policies and
advanced data types such as multiple choice, calculations, currency, or database lookups.
Another key SharePoint advantage is the incorporation of automated tasks and/or workflows
and site integration with other District systems or software applications.
