SAFE DRIVER PLAN




                       recommended to the Board for termination. During this period the employee may use available
                       leave time pending the reinstatement of the Driver’s License.  If no such time is accumulated, the
                       employee will be carried in a no-pay status pending Board action. If reinstatement occurs prior to
                       the Board action the employee will be subject to disciplinary action and points.

                   B.  Any employee who is required to possess a valid Driver’s License and who operates a School
                       District vehicle with an expired, disqualified, cancelled, suspended or revoked Driver’s License shall
                       be subject to the following disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.  This
                       includes the following:

                                Operating a district vehicle during a period of Commercial Driver License revocation,
                                 expiration, suspension or disqualification.

                 First occurrence:  Ten (10) work-days suspension without pay.
                 Second occurrence:  Twenty (20) work-days suspension without pay.
                 Third occurrence within ten (10) years: Dismissal from employment as a driver. The employee will be able to
                   request a career redirection to an open position for which they are qualified, and which does not involve
                   operation of a school bus. There is no guarantee of assignment to the alternate position.

            Any employee on a Leave of Absence (LOA) or Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at the time of expiration,
            disqualification,  cancellation,  suspension,  or  revocation  of  their  driver’s  license  would  not  be  subject  to
            discipline, however; the driver must have a valid license and fulfill all other requirements prior to returning to
            an active driving status.

            WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE

            Wireless Communications Devices (WCDs) include, but are not limited to:

                 Cellular and wireless telephones, including handheld and hands free
                 Smart Watches
                 Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)
                 Smartphone/Blackberry
                 Other WI-FI-enabled or broadband access devices


            Wireless Communications Devices (WCDs), including WCDs equipped with ear pieces, ear buds, headsets,
            and/or a Bluetooth, shall not be used for any purpose, including, but not limited to: placing or receiving phone
            calls, posting, re-posting or reading messages on Social Media, sending or receiving text messages, or sending
            or receiving e-mails, anytime the operator is actively operating a District school bus, with or without students
            on board. This is in compliance with School Board Policy 3.29, Acceptable Use of Technology by Employees.
