No Kid Hungry - Spotlight Schools
No Kid Hungry (NKH) has been an ongoing partner to the SFS Department in helping us to promote our
school meal programs and increase meal participation throughout the District. During FY21, NKH has awarded
our SFS Department with $185,000 for supplies and equipment to help support our mission in keeping Kids
First!
As part of that endeavor, No Kid Hungry invited the SFS Department to participate in Spotlight Schools –
Palm Beach County, a project designed to tell those stories through the No Kid Hungry campaign and the
successful school programs that are feeding them. The District is just one of three in the country to be part
of the initiative.
To kick off the program in Palm Beach County, No Kid Hungry will be spotlighting Northmore Elementary until
the end of the next school year (FY22). The hope is to extend the initiative and spotlight another school in the
following school year.
“We identified Northmore Elementary as an extraordinary example of the kinds of efforts our schools are
making to ensure that no child goes hungry,” said SFS Director, Allison Monbleau. “We want to lift up stories
from our communities about challenges school districts and families face with feeding hungry children
and the effective meal programs at our schools. We want to spotlight the School Food Service, school, and
community heroes that make this possible.”
