        McKinney-Vento Program (MVP)

The McKinney-Vento Program (MVP), the District’s Homeless Education Program consists of the Homeless
Liaison, the Academic Support Specialist, and the MVP Case Managers who provide assistance to homeless
children and youth, including unaccompanied homeless youth throughout the District in compliance with
the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The McKinney-Vento Act protects the educational rights of
        children and youth experiencing homelessness.

MVP removes or overcomes the barriers and obstacles often faced by homeless children and youth in enrolling,
attending, and succeeding in school through the provision of services and supports at the school, district,
and community level. Program staff work collaboratively with schools, district departments, and community
social service agencies to maximize access to various educational, social, and enrichment programs needed
to promote the academic success and achievement of homeless children and youth.
