Prevention Programs
Outstanding prevention programs were offered in collaboration with community health partners to provide
exceptional services to address and prevent health issues within schools. In FY22, we partnered with the
Health Care District Palm Beach County and the Florida Department of Health to provide the following services:
• COVID-19 Screening and Testing - the Health Care District provided COVID-19 Screening and testing
for symptomatic students.
• Prevention Health Interventions - the Florida Department of Health conducted Hearing, Vision, Body
Mass Index and Scoliosis Screenings for our students.
• Communicable Disease Control - the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County’s School Health
Division provided immunization expertise through review of students’ records and by conducting
immunization training and education. In addition, the Florida Department of Health’s Epidemiology
Department provided expert guidance in responding to communicable disease cases.

Health Services Staff Training

School staff members are trained annually to provide selected school health services under the guidance
and training of licensed health professionals. The following training programs contribute to a safer school
environment and provide immediate emergency response within our schools.

 CPR/AED/First Aid
o Provided CPR/AED/First Aid certification to all designated emergency responders in schools
and departments as well as to staff designated to provide nursing services to students with and
without accommodations.

 AED Site Coordinator Training
o Provided AED Site Coordinator online training and guidance on the maintenance and operation
of AEDs within the schools and departments.

 Health Room Designee/Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Training
o Provided online education and health information as an adjunct to student specific health
services training provided by the school nurses within all schools.

 Immunization and Medical Records Management
o Provided updated information about school immunization and physical examination
requirements in addition to appropriate health records management.
