health aDvocate, a subsidiary of Teleperformance, is the nation’s leading independent healthcare
advocacy and assistance company. With over 12,500 client relationships covering over 60 million lives, Health
Advocate helps millions of Americans personally navigate the often-complex healthcare system. The School
District of Palm Beach County offers a seamless integration of Advocacy and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
+ Work/Life services to employees, spouses/domestic partners, dependent children, parents, and parents-in-
law at no additional cost to you. The District offers the Advocacy programs through Health Advocate, which
headquarter is in suburban Philadelphia, and the EAP + Work/Life through a division Health Advocate, located
in Jacksonville, Florida.
Each school year, we continue to look for new ways to infuse communications throughout the year, in order to
promote the programs as well as ensure members received pertinent and helpful information, and could turn
to Health Advocate as a resource for continuing support through the next phase of the COVID-19 pandemic,
and adapting to the “new normal”. For FY22, Health Advocate had 12,966 Interactions with members to help
them resolve their EAP and Advocacy concerns.
Employee Assistance/Work Life Needs, Locating Specialists for needed appointments and second opinions,
and Benefits Education were the strongest drivers to the program. Health Information was fourth and
providing assistance for claims matters rounded out the top 5 call drivers for FY22.
Health Advocate continues to partner in health and wellness fairs, Wellness Champion meetings, ongoing
communications and webinars. They attended EAP/Advisory Committee Meetings where they reviewed
trends, best practices, and new ideas for EAP and Advocacy promotion with a cross-section representation of
the District. Furthermore, Health Advocate added an increased focus on the Advocacy benefit by continuing
to speak about it during Wellness Champion meetings and emphasized the use of our member engagement
platform (website) which was accessed 2,000 times during SY 2021-2022. Web visits on our EAP site totaled
10,203, as many members have accessed the website for topics such as managing work and family, stress,
effective communication and supervision, and other emotional issues.
EAP + Work/ Life Utilization
Health Advocate provided over 3,155 hours of service in FY22 for District employees and their families. The
top three (3) reasons for utilizing the EAP were Emotional, Stress and Anxiety. Their EAP and WorkLife team
handled over 83% of all EAP cases. The remaining 17% were coordinated with various other resources (such
as legal assistance, outpatient or inpatient mental health, community resources, MYHELP Virtual assistance,
etc.).
Some of the top training sessions included:
• Depression, Anxiety, and Burnout
• Working with Different Personality Styles
• Customer Service in Schools
• Self-Care
Overall, Health Advocate has spent 4,174 hours resolving issues for members and their families helping to
relieve the stress of having to deal with complex medical issues on their own and keeping them focused and
productive. In addition, we have saved the District approximately $626,074 in absenteeism, presenteeism and
productivity savings.
