Going Green - School Food Service
Each year, the School Food Service (SFS) Department partners with other internal District departments in an effort to promote utility savings, reuse, and recycling. By leveraging those partnerships, SFS programs and operations saved money and generated revenue over $300,000 during the 2012-2013 school year by:

In the 2012-2013 school year, the SFS Department previewed a heat reclamation dishwashing machine which does not require the use of hot-water; thereby, eliminating the need for a hot-water heater. It can be filled and operated with cold-water supply only. SFS is currently in the process of selecting a pilot site for this innovative equipment.
