Modified Classrooms
As students and staff have returned to face-to-face instruction on September 21st, their traditional environment reflects the enhanced safety and health
protocols.
Face Coverings: District staff collaborated with medical authorities to guide decision-making. As a result of this input, the District requires face
coverings for all students and staff. According to the CDC, face coverings are effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19 when used in concert with
social distancing, hand washing, and sanitation.
• Face Covering Requirements: Students, staff, vendors, and visitors are required to wear face coverings on campus, on school buses, and while
attending extracurricular activities. Students wearing facial coverings shall not interfere with the
District’s dress code policy. All facial coverings should be preferably 3 layers, but no less than 2
layers of breathable material or meet the most updated CDC recommended guidelines. Facial
coverings must be secured with ties or ear loops (neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and
mesh material, valves, or holes of any kind are not acceptable for facial coverings.
• Enforcement: School administration or staff will be stationed at entry points throughout each
campus to remind students to wear facial coverings prior to entering campus. In instances where
facial coverings are left at home, a disposable facial covering will be provided for the day. Students
who ignore facial covering guidelines will be educated on the importance of facial covering usage.
Each campus will have a COVID Point Person to work on compliance issues at the school level.
• Common Areas & Classrooms: Students must wear facial coverings at all times when on campus.
• Exemptions: Students or staff must have a medical issue for which a facial covering would cause an impairment. There is also an applicable
exemption for students or staff who need to communicate with someone who is hearing impaired and needs to see the person’s mouth to
communicate.
* Any student choosing not to adhere to the District's policy regarding the wearing of facial coverings or any other aspects of this policy will have consequences as outlined in the student code of conduct and
may be assigned to Distance Learning. No student will be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
