Back to School Risk Reduction Strategies


       Modified Wellness Checks









          As students and staff have returned to face-to-face, their traditional environment reflects the enhanced safety and health protocols.




         Mental & Behavioral Health: Additional support for student wellness includes behavioral and mental health services.


         • Activities for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) will be provided to assist teachers and students in building community throughout our distance

           learning model and with in-person learning.  Additional resources & information can be found at Caring First.

         • The following list contains things a parent can do when concerned about a family member’s mental health:

                       ◦    Talk with your child’s pediatrician                             ◦    Work with the school

                       ◦    Get referral to a mental health professional                    ◦    Connect with other individuals and families

                       ◦    Learn more about mental illness
         • For additional support the Student Mental Health Helpline is available Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM at (561) 432-6389



         Screenings: As the health and wellness of our students and staff are a priority, the monitoring and enforcement of these safety steps are crucial.


            • Students and staff should pay special attention to their health and wellness in order to minimize the spread of the virus.

                  ◦    District staff is encouraged to self-screen at home, using a checklist, to ensure absence of symptoms.

                  ◦    Students shall be screened at home, with the help of parents or guardians, to ensure absence of symptoms.
                  ◦    Before entering a school or District building, please assess your wellness with the following questions:


                       Have you experienced any of these symptoms, not associated                          In the last 14 days, have you:

                       with previously diagnosed conditions, in the past 72 hours:
                                                                                                               ~ Been in close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19
                           ~ Fever greater than 100.4 °F/chills                                                ~ Been placed on quarantine for possible contact with COVID-19


                           ~ Cough/shortness of breath                                                         ~ Traveled abroad or to an area of the country where it is

                           ~ New loss of taste or smell                                                            recommended that you self-quarantine

                           ~ Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea                                                          ~ Been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results


                           ~ Fatigue/body aches/sore throat
