15Manager Intern Training Program As part of our commitment to providing paths for career advancement for our employees, our Manager Intern Training Program offers staff interested in a Cafeteria Manager position an opportunity to receive comprehensive training to prepare them for the requirements of the job. Each year, we conduct two 16-week sessions consisting of classroom instruction, provided by SFS Central Office staff, combined with hands-on experiential learning through rotations in various school sites with experienced training Managers. In-class learning focuses on topics such as menu planning, ordering, safety and sanitation, meal claiming, and staffing a kitchen. School rotations allow interns to work alongside seasoned Managers to learn day-to-day operations and put their newly acquired skills to work. After successfully completing the 16-week program, manager interns are eligible to apply for open Cafeteria Manager positions. During FY24 all 21 graduating interns were promoted to Cafeteria Manager positions.Floater PoolTo reduce reliance on outside temporary labor services, SFS conducted a Floater Pool pilot to hire permanent employees that %u201cfloat%u201d between schools in a predetermined geographical area.
