PROTOCOLS FOR CONTROLLING
COVID-19 off school campus
Students who are known to have been in direct contact with an
individual who received a positive diagnostic test for COVID-19
should not attend school, school-sponsored activities, or be on
school property.
Principal is notified of a COVID-19 exposed student case from
the Parent/Guardian off of school campus.
• Check vaccination status.
• If the student exposure was with a member of the student’s
household this exposure must be reported to the DOH. The
student will be directed to stay home and DOH will
determine return dates and provide them to the Principal via
the “Investigation Completed” email.
• The stay home directive is only for the student reported as it
is a non-verified case. There is no need to report to DOH or
School Nurse.
The return to school criteria used by principals are as follows:
(a) The student is asymptomatic and receives a negative
diagnostic COVID-19 test after four days from the date of last
exposure to the COVID-19 positive individual. The student
can return on day five with a negative result from a test
performed in a laboratory / Any results from a “home test” will
NOT be accepted. (Email/copy/screenshot acceptable for
each); or
(b) The student is asymptomatic and seven days have passed
since the date of last exposure to the COVID-19 positive
individual.
