108 SUPERINTENDENT ANNUAL REPORTTOBACCO PREVENTION PROGRAMThe Tobacco Prevention Program helps reduce substance misuse among youth. The program provided alternative-to-suspension courses in English and Spanish, along with prevention-focused training. These targeted modules offered two levels of intervention for elementary, middle, and high school students facing disciplinary actions related to tobacco, vaping, and e-cigarette products. The Alcohol and Other Drug Course provides specialized instruction that allows students to remain in school rather than serve out-of-school suspension days assigned under the District Student Code of Conduct. Key achievements throughout FY26 include:%u2022 Implementation of a tobacco-prevention framework across 70 schools.%u2022 Delivery of three prevention courses for instructional employees and one for school nurses.%u2022 Education of 989 students about substance misuse through infraction classes.%u2022 Access to seven online alternative-to-suspension modules.%u2022 Retention of 2,900 instructional hours previously lost to disciplinary absences.Furthermore, the initiative trained more than 60 educators and medical personnel through professional learning opportunities. Interactive content on industry tactics, nicotine-related health risks, and effective prevention strategies reached more than 500 learners.TRUSTED ADULT ON SCHOOL CAMPUS INITIATIVEGrounded in research, the Trusted Adult on School Campus Strategic Plan Initiative C.1a shows that students with at least one trusted adult at school are more likely to feel safe, connected, and engaged. To support implementation, each school designated a Trusted Adult Point of Contact to lead the initiative and leverage existing programs and structures to ensure sustainability. In FY26, monthly %u201cChat and Chew%u201d Professional Learning Communities fostered a collaborative environment in which staff consistently aligned on best practices and proactively addressed challenges. This commitment to professional growth was paired with the strategic use of the Trusted Adult Dashboard, which enabled precise monitoring of survey engagement and the translation of student feedback into actionable, targeted support strategies.By the end of February, these efforts produced a measurable impact, with an 84.6% completion rate for the Trusted Adult Student Form.
