                                    EDUCATE | AFFIRM | INSPIRE 127Comprehensive and Individualized EvaluationsDistrict school psychologists provide specialized evaluations for students with mental health, learning, or behavioral concerns. These evaluations inform individualized educational programming.Operating within the Department of Behavioral & Mental Health, School Psychological Services completed more than 6,500 evaluations in FY26, achieving a 99.5% on-time completion rate within the state-required 60-day timeframe.Crisis, Assessment, Prevention, and Education Support Services The Crisis, Assessment, Prevention, and Education Support Services (CAPE) saw a 34.1% increase in demand, reflecting growing student needs. In response, the District expanded its crisis response and prevention capacity.Professional learning focused on strengthening school-based support in key areas, including trauma-informed practices, suicide risk identification, anxiety interventions, social media impacts, and post-hospitalization reentry planning.CAPE also established a multi-tiered collaboration model involving more than 10 District departments and eight community agencies. This coordinated, data-informed approach improves continuity of care and reduces repeat hospitalizationsSuicide Prevention Certified SchoolsThe District continues to expand its suicide prevention infrastructure to comply with state-mandated requirements. It also continues to expand suicide prevention practices to align with state requirements. Currently, 57 schools have achieved 95% or higher completion of the designation criteria, and 38 schools fully earned the Suicide Prevention Certified School (SPCS) designation in FY26. An additional 20 schools are preparing for submission.To earn this designation from the Florida Department of Education, schools must:%u2022 Ensure all instructional personnel complete at least two hours of approved youth suicide awareness and prevention training every three years.%u2022 Include suicide prevention training in the District%u2019s continuing education or master in-service plan.%u2022 Maintain at least two qualified school-based mental health professionals trained in suicide risk assessment using an approved screening instrument.%u2022 Implement policies that require a suicide risk assessment prior to initiating an involuntary examination related to suicide risk.
