COMMUNITY
The co-located mental health professional initiative responded well to the challenges presented by Distance
Learning (Phase 1), the transition to school campuses (Phase 2), and the COVID-19 pandemic. District schools,
co-located agencies, and co-located mental health professionals remained focused on providing individual
counseling to students through telehealth (virtual counseling sessions) and face-to-face counseling. Fidelity
of mental health services, students referred for individual counseling received individual counseling, and was
assured through the Caring First App. This one-of-a-kind App was used to record and monitor the helping
process from referral to parent consultation to consent to team collaboration to individual counseling.
