School Gardens
The School Garden initiative continued to thrive in FY22. We ended that school year with 138 schools reporting
a school garden initiative on their campus.
School Garden Development Guide – 4th Edition
To ensure consistent practices district wide, we continue to follow the guidance in the School Garden
Development Guide - 4th Edition.
Garden Collaboration Team
To ensure our schools receive guidance consistent with the District Guidelines, various departments are
represented on the Garden Collaboration Team which serves as the collaborative governing body for school
gardens.
Community Partners
This year several of our community partners worked with our schools to enhance and support their existing
school garden programs:
The Family Nutrition Team from the UF/IFAS Extension Service supported the five District schools below
during the 2021-2022 school year to help promote through environmental support, the long-term behavior
changes that their nutrition education creates.
