The Welcome Center has helped over 1,200 newcomers with the registration process and ensuring students
are enrolled in their zoned school; in addition to arranging vaccination for over 920 students through bi-
monthly visits from the immunization van. They also provide guidance to new and existing families via emails,
phone calls, and virtual meetings with information on graduation requirements, available school programs,
and a variety of resources and services of community agencies. TRiO and DREAM Us representatives continue
supporting students and families with scholarships and college/university applications assistance for English
Language Learners (ELLs) throughout the District. “After High School...What?” is a graduation guide that the
department produces in various languages for students to use as a tool to set their graduation and post-
graduation goals.
The Migrant Education Program (MEP) returned to face-to-face and facilitated four Family Engagement Nights
in collaboration with other departments. During these Family Engagement Nights, the content was provided
English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. The MEP also recognized students who participated in the Extended
Learning Opportunities (MEP Tutoring Program during the school year, and graduating high school students who
were accepted to USF’s College Assistance Migrant Program, CAMP).
During the summer months, the MEP held an enriching STEM based summer program for migrant students,
including field trips to the zoo and science center, and college tours for secondary migrant students. Over 150
students participated in the summer program and/or college tours.
To keep family engaged in FY22, the District will continue to do the following:
The District promoted parental involvement through culturally and linguistically responsive practices
to support family engagement.
The District encouraged flexible scheduling practices to support parents and/or guardians’ ability to
attend meetings and school activities.
The District provided parents and/or guardians with educational tools to support the academics and
personal well-being through online educational programs and parent training.
The District promoted school staff communication with parents and/or guardians regarding their
children at all levels of academic, social-emotional, and health related concerns.
The District encouraged parents and/or guardians to participate in the Wellness Promotion Policy
Adoption Development, the Healthy School Team Initiatives at their child’s school, and to attend
District’s Wellness Promotion Task Force meetings.
