The Department of Multicultural Education serves to meet the educational needs of a diverse student
population of English Language Learners (ELLs). Through the Title III Grant, the department has been able to
support the individual needs of ELLs throughout the system and provide guidance to ensure compliance with
all requirements of state and federal mandates regarding ELLs.
During FY22, the Welcome Center assisted over 1,200 families by helping them with the registrations process,
arranging vaccination for over 900 students through the visits of the immunization van, and providing
guidance to families via emails, phone calls, or virtual meetings.
To keep family engaged in FY22, the District will continue to do the following:
● Promoted parental involvement through culturally and linguistically responsive practices to support
family engagement.
● Encouraged flexible scheduling practices to support parents and/or guardians’ ability to attend
meetings and school activities.
● Provided parents and/or guardians with educational tools to support the academics and personal
well-being through online educational programs and parent training.
● Promoted school staff communication with parents and/or guardians regarding their children at all
levels of academic, social-emotional, and health related concerns.
● Encouraged parents and/or guardians to participate in the Wellness Promotion Policy Adoption
Development, the Healthy School Team Initiatives at their child’s school, and to attend District’s
Wellness Promotion Task Force meetings.
In addition, The Florida Health Palm Beach County Community Immunization Services known as the
“Immunization Van” were recognized on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the District’s Wellness Promotion Task Force
(WPTF) annual Wellness Celebration ‘Your Time to Shine...A Year In Review’ for their effort in collaborating with
the Welcome Center to assist families to meet the registration requirements for enrollment.
