Pre-Service Program

The District’s Pre-Service Program has partnerships with 17 universities, including out-of-state
universities and Historically Black Colleges and Universities, to provide placements for college
students, resulting in a degree in Education. Once a college has established an Affiliation Agreement
with the District, its students can complete placements, including a semester-long internship. The
District works collaboratively with universities to place students with qualified cooperating educators
at the right school or subject level that coincides with the students’ certification goals. Pre-Service
students work with our qualified teachers to mirror and model best practices while in the classroom
with students. Interns are hosted by qualified cooperating educators who have completed the
required Clinical Educator training and, in some cases, a Reading Endorsement. Interns have access
to supportive resources, including District technology, to mirror their Cooperating Educator’s
Top-performing urban school district in Florida
professional learning opportunities and engage in an interactive Google Classroom where they find
        the most current information.
