Virtual Recruitment Chats
During the past year, the Department hosted a series of recruitment chats for instructional and non-instructional positions
in the District. The virtual recruitment chats are just one of the ways Recruitment & Retention collaborates with schools
and departments to attract potential candidates to the District. Potential applicants hear rich, vibrant panel discussions
on why the District is a great place to start and grow their careers. Panelists included department directors, principals,
teachers, assistant principals, HR partners, and other HR team members. Panelists had the opportunity to spotlight their
departments/schools, and attendees could ask questions and have them answered on the spot.

Building Teacher Pipelines/Grow Our Own Initiatives

The Florida Future Educators of America and Teachers of Tomorrow Programs
The Florida Future Educators of America and Teachers of Tomorrow programs provide opportunities for elementary,
middle, and high school students to become aware of careers in education and nurture their interest in teaching by providing
hands-on, classroom-based experiences. There are currently 71 schools participating which is an increase of 12 from FY22.
The goal is to have a program in every school.

                                                   Teachers of Tomorrow Clubs

Florida Future Educators of America Scholarship
Future Educators of America Scholarships were offered to eight non-instructional employees,
temporary employees, and high school seniors. These recipients signed agreements to return to
Palm Beach County to teach upon graduation.

        Paid Student Internships
District employees can utilize student-teaching leave to complete their teaching internships. They are paid their current
salary and maintain benefits. Schools may be able to hire an interim employee to cover their current position. The employees
complete their teaching internship in a District-operated school with the expectation that they will teach in the District
        upon graduation.

        University Partnerships
The Department of Recruitment & Retention is working alongside several local colleges and universities to create a degree
pathway for paraprofessionals and other non-instructional employees with an Associate’s Degree to earn a Bachelor’s
Degree in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), and other fields.

        Filling Non-Instructional Vacancies
The Department of Recruitment & Retention is actively recruiting non-instructional applicants to fill the various trade
positions, which include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other industry-specific trades. Maintenance & Plant Operations,
Transportation, School Food Service, and School Police joined forces to hold monthly job fairs at the District office.
Additionally, recruitment efforts focused on non-instructional positions include attending job fairs (local, statewide, Veterans,
and technical colleges). Recruitment efforts focused on West Tech Academy graduates in Belle Glade and engagement with
qualified candidates from the community. The Department is committed to ensuring that all non-instructional departments
are supported by recruiting and hiring qualified candidates.
