The District mobile app will provide the ability for parents and the community to sync their
calendars to important events, look up and contact school or District staff easily and even
navigate to District schools and facilities. The app will also provide the ability for students,
parents, and community members to send tips and messages about issues like bullying, the
condition of facilities, a positive or negative experience with a school or employee or other
important topics for which the District would like to solicit stakeholder feedback.
Social Media
Many of our schools as well as the District Office maintain a presence on social media such as
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. During the life of this plan, District leaders will be able to
push information to any or all of those social media accounts simultaneously. They also will be
able to monitor all District and school social media content from one location.
Mass Notification System
The District uses a hosted mass notification system to send robocalls and texts to parents and
employees. Individual schools use the system to send calendar event reminders and other
announcement-type calls to their parents. The system automatically calls parents when their
child is absent from school. The Superintendent uses the system to reach all parents and
employees as it relates to emergencies, the start of school, important testing dates, etc. The
Food Service department uses the system to automatically contact parents when their child’s
lunch account balance reaches below a threshold.
During the life of this plan, those services will continue but will be coordinated and integrated
with the other communication methods outlined in this chapter to ensure consistent and
comprehensive information reaches the proper stakeholder groups.
School leaders and key District personnel will receive continuous professional development on
the use and deployment of these features to ensure maximum utility and stakeholder
engagement.
