MAINTAINING
CUTTING EDGE
TECHNOLOGY IN
OUR CLASSROOMS
Palm Beach County Schools are equipped with the latest technology to
support teachers’ instruction to students. Students further enjoy many
options to enhance their learning. The Information Technology Division
supports the Education Technology Department in keeping the District at the
competitive edge by continually improving infrastructure including:
• School computers are refreshed, i.e., new computers replace
unsupported ones, at least every five years.
• Every classroom receives a cart to store Chromebook computers for
students.
• 2,623 SMART Interactive Flat Panels were delivered to classrooms. Every
working classroom gets one.
• Classroom tools are systematically refreshed every five years. For
school years 2017-2019 3,854 new audio-enhancement systems, 3,931
document cameras and 3,100 projectors were replaced.
• School fiber optic networks were upgraded to increase on-campus
transmission speed. Ten-gigabyte core upgrades performed at schools
provide faster access to the Internet, which, itself, is upgraded to 24GB.
School wireless access points were replaced, creating a more robust test
environment.
• All school servers have been replaced allowing better access of campus
infrastructure.
