When teachers and students store and access files
in a cloud storage solution like Google Drive, they
can access their work from anywhere, share
documents via the web, reduce printing, and
collaborate in the classroom in the same way they
will need to in the workforce---meeting the ISTE
student standards and moving higher on the TIM. In
surveying teachers who made this change in a
small scale pilot in 2015, the teachers’ emphatic
plea at the conclusion was that the District would
not “make them go back to teaching like we used to

now that the pilot is over.”

The District will continue to partner with Google to provide training for school leaders and
build teams at each school that can support the modern digital classroom as the District
moves toward personalized learning. Additionally, professional learning will be encouraged
for all teachers through the Google Certified Educator courses delivered in the District
               eLearning Management Systems.

               Teaching with Technology Trailblazers
Building Capacity for Personalized Learning in Today’s Digital Classroom

Setting the stage for SDPBC’s Strategic Plan Initiative, personalized learning through digital
and blended learning opportunities to engage learners, the District recently rolled out the
Teaching with Technology Trailblazers program that ties professional growth opportunities to
               classroom technology deployment.

For the 2017-2018 school year, the program was implemented at all 60 secondary schools,
allowing over 600 middle and high school teacher leaders to become Digital Classroom
experts, Trailblazers, within their subject area. These teachers build the school’s digital
culture by learning to use tools and a common language through instructional practice tied
to standards. Trailblazers are provided the training, tools, and team support necessary to
deliver instruction in an engaging classroom, that today’s students expect.
