Jason Innes – Forest Hill High
Jason mentored a student for the entire school year. It is part of a scholarship program for underprivileged kids to help them pay for college. One of the requirements of the program is that each student needs to meet with a mentor once a week. As a mentor he helped his student deal with issues in the student's life. Jason met with his student to discuss his career path, family life and school. Jason regularly checked with the student's teachers to make sure he was on the right path to graduation and guided him on where to find and how to apply for additional scholarships. Jason's student successfully graduated this past year. Jason attended the graduation ceremony in which both he and the student were recognized for his achievements and for being a mentor, respectively.

Kathy Jo Belcourt – Royal Palm Beach Elementary
Her Principal writes – “One of our teachers saw a suitcase out behind the marquee in front of our school.  It was after school hours (approximately 3:00-3:30), but the aftercare program was in session.  It was reported to school police who instructed everyone to move out of the school to the neighboring development.  Everyone was bussed off-campus to a designated area. Kathy Jo, still on campus, joined other staff on the bus.  She gladly step in to assist with supervision while transporting the students to the alternate site.  The school was eventually cleared  for return by the Sheriff's Department.  The Staff and students were escorted back to school around 8:30 p.m. Kathy Jo's help during that time was greatly appreciated as this was well above and beyond her actual duties.  We are truly lucky to have KathyJo as our cafeteria manager.”
