Academic Success Starts Today Booklet

For years, strategies have been suggested to be implemented the day before or the day of a test, but in order to have a true impact these strategies need to be implemented well in advance of any testing. This booklet was designed with consistency in mind. It is the routines that are learned and utilized each day that lead to success, and this booklet provides various strategies and links to resources, that students may find beneficial. Some of the most successful people in history used these techniques.
“A Goal Without a Plan... is Just a Dream. You can do anything you set your mind to when you have vision and determination…and this is a powerfull resource on how to setup a routine to which you can adhere.” - Steve Bonino

“Being successful in school starts today! When students develop a positive attitude, have focused thinking, practice healthy habits, and use study strategies that work; they are more likely to do well in class and on tests. The Academic Success Starts Today guide is designed to get you and your students started on this journey. Inside you will find tools, strategies, print materials and online resources to incorporate into your school day. I encourage you to take a few minutes, several times a week to share these valuable success tips.” - Karen Whetsell

Powerful Marketing

One of the goals of the School Food Service Department is to promote participation. We are here to provide food to fuel the students throughout the day so they can stay focused and be successful. In order to reach more parents and students with the message about our services we designed and purchased vehicle wraps for eight Field Specialist vehicles.

Recharge with Afterschool Snacks

The Afterschool Snack Program is offered in many schools throughout Palm Beach County. We developed the rack card below to market the program to qualifying schools in the hopes that more schools would choose to participate. 2 snack programs were added this past year.
Need Verbiage

In order to pilot the vending machines in schools we needed some way for the students to know what items comprised a meal and how to make their selections. The poster pictured below and to the right was designed and utilized at all of the schools piloting this program.

Educating students, staff, and parents on nutrition is very important to School Food Service. This year a web page was developed that is dedicated to nutrition education. On this page visitors can find resources for students, parents, and teachers (right). Additionally, we continue to provide nutrition education at the school level through our Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, or Farm To School posters, our OrganWise Guys program and My Plate posters.
