The goals were to develop an innovative new secondary program for the State of Florida in Behavioral Health as
a prevention mechanism and to increase diversity and inclusion in healthcare by creating a robust curriculum
to prepare students for this field of study aligned with industry needs, to increase Florida students’ access to a
Behavioral Health career pathway, and to assist with the critical shortage of healthcare providers nationwide.
Community stakeholders and partners that have been instrumental in the development and delivery of the
Behavioral Health Focused Pilot Project include: The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, CareerSource
Palm Beach County, Palm Health Foundation, Quantum Foundation, United Way of Palm Beach County,
BeWellPBC, Palm Beach County’s Youth Services Department, Children’s Services Council (CSC) Palm Beach
County, Living Skills in Schools (LSIS), Palm Beach State College, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Keiser
University, South University, Center for Child Counseling, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Prime
Time Palm Beach County, Birth to 22: United for Brighter Futures (Birth to 22), TED Talks, Florida Department
of Health, Health Care District of Palm Beach County, MMR Healthcare, Palm Beach County Medical Society
(PBCMS), Florida Certification Board, and Applied Educational Systems, Inc. (AES).
