Continue our recognition program for School Food Service employees - ongoing
School Food Service continues to recognize outstanding achievements of its workforce. The following School Food Service Staff were recognized at the August 8, 2013 in-service for accomplishments during the 2012-2013 school year.
The Humanitarian Awarded is given to School Food Service managers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to come to the aid of another person; either a fellow staff member or student.

The Creativity to Promote Program Award is given to the School Food Managers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to promote and market the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Activities reviewed, but not limited to include, giving presentations in the classroom, utilizing the school's website to advertise the programs, creating morning announcements, creating videos, sponsoring themed events in the cafeteria, and participating in departmental promotions throughout the year.

Bonnie Rawlins
Bonnie has been a dedicated cheerleader for the American School Nutrition Association, Florida School Nutrition Association and the Palm Beach County School Nutrition Association. This summer she and a few other Palm Beach County School Food Service Staff attended the National School Nutrition Association Conference in Kansas and while they were entering the exhibit area a banner with her quote (below) was proudly displayed on a banner:

“I love to go into the classrooms and teach the children about fruits and vegetables. It’s seeing their faces when we decorate for NSLW and NSBW. It’s been my happiness for 19 years and I hope it will be for the next 19.”
The Juggler Award is given to the School Food Service Managers who successfully manage 7 or more programs. These programs include: National School Lunch, School Breakfast , Afterschool Snack, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs and provide those programs to more than one school.

Pete Wood and Debbie Hardman – became certified CPR instructors this year. This allows us to maintain in house CPR training and greatly reduces the cost to provide this training. We are very proud of both of them for stepping up to volunteer to become certified.
At the end of the school year ballots were sent out to all School Food Service Managers. Each manager was asked to select one support employee who they felt provided the best customer service during the year. The ballots were returned to the office and tallied. Below are the recipients of the Support Employee of the Year Award for the 2012-2013 school year.

Benchmarks awards are provided to those managers who have met certain key performance indicators that have been established by School Food Service at the beginning of the year. The Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are as follows: Breakfast Participation, Lunch Participation, Food Cost, Labor Cost, Benefit Cost, and Materials and Supply Cost.
