Maintain garden project for the purpose of community and/or school outreach and building beautification - 3 of 3 years
To support sustainable community gardening efforts the School Food Service (SFS) Department maintained the garden located at the North County Services Center utilizing the surrounding grounds to grow vegetables and create an extended outdoor area for staff. In the second year of this garden, Pero Family Farms® donated 99 Mini Sweet Pepper plants which were planted in three of the six beds. The remaining three beds two were planted with Green Beans and Cherry Tomatoes. The School Food Service Department’s office staff refreshed the garden beds with top soil and compost to ensure a successful harvest. After each harvest the vegetables were rinsed and weighed.
