Market on-line meal applications to move towards a more efficient process - 1 of 2 years

Aggressively Marketing the Online Application Process

For the past five years, the School Food Service Department has been aggressively marketing the online application process with great success. This year we did not send out meal benefit applications to each student's household registered in the District. Instead, we sent out a marketing brochure that focused on the online application process. In doing so we continued to experience an increase. During the 2012-13 school year we received an additional 12,000 applications online.

  • Customer ServiceThe online application system provides a more efficient way of processing applications. On average online applications are processed within one-two business days of submission because there is no time delay between the delivery of the application and the approval process.
  • Printing SavingsIn past years we have printed over 300,000 applications annually; this year we printed only 65,000 applications.
  • Going GreenThis year out of the 51,689 applications that were processed only 13,893 were paper applications.  Therefore, there was over 200,000 paper applications that were discarded.
  • Document RetentionDocument Retention – Less storage space is required due to decrease in paper applications.
